Dalton, GA, United States
My husband, Matt, and I both grew up in Dalton, GA. Six months after our wedding, we moved back to our hometown in 2002 and started a church. My husband is the pastor of Rock Bridge Community Church and I am the Director of Student Ministry. In April of 2010, my husband and I brought our two boys (Eyasu and Abreham) home from Ethiopia. That was a life changing experience for both of us and we love being parents to these precious boys. I was born with a blood disorder called Fanconi Anemia (FA). My brother, Barry Patterson, died from FA at the age of 19. In November 2010, I was diagnosed with MDS (a complication of FA) and this quickly progressed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I had a bone marrow transplant on December 29, 2010, at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. I am now back home continuing my recovery.
